Formats Carry Different Data
Changing the container can change the model. The destination format may not support everything stored in the source file.
- Appearance
- Materials, textures, and UV data may be removed.
- Structure
- Animation, hierarchy, names, and metadata may change.
- 3D Printing
- Verify scale, geometry, walls, orientation, and supports.

3D TOOL BASICS
FAQ
What is a 3D file converter?
A 3D file converter reads supported data from one format and writes it into another format for a different modeling, web, or 3D printing workflow.
Can JPG or PNG be converted directly into a 3D file?
Not as a simple format change. A flat image contains no complete 3D geometry, so an image-to-3D workflow creates a new model and infers forms that are not visible in the source image.
Are converted files ready for 3D printing?
Not automatically. Check the mesh, dimensions, wall thickness, clearances, orientation, supports, and slicer settings for your printer and material.
Which 3D formats can I convert?
This directory includes tools for STL, OBJ, GLB, FBX, and 3MF, plus image and vector workflows using JPG, PNG, and SVG.
What can change during 3D file conversion?
Materials, textures, animation, hierarchy, units, scale, orientation, and metadata may be changed or removed when the destination format does not support them.
Are my files uploaded to Crisp3D?
No. These lightweight tools process files locally in your browser and do not upload them to or retain them on Crisp3D servers.
